‘Surrender’ is the distinction between someone who merely accepts the Christian label and one who is a follower of Christ.
It’s the difference between ‘religion’ and ‘relationship’. To follow Christ is to spend time with Him, follow His direction and, as a result, to bear good fruit.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP)
If you don’t see the fruit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23, it may be an indication that a greater level of surrender is needed. As long as one clings to the comforts of this world, one will never experience the FREEDOM and LIFE that Jesus’ resurrection secured for us.
Allow God to do His transformative work in your life.
- Matthew 16: 24- 26
- Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done
- Proverbs 3:5-6
- Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
- Psalm 9:10
- And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.
